SPIDER GRANDMOTHER AND HER LONG LEGS - Louise Bourgeois, MAMAN, bronze, marble and stainless steel, 1999
There’s an egg cache hidden in the belly of this 30’ tall spider, and she walks on tiptoe. She guards her treasures with metal bars, but her own body is deceptively fragile, like that of a woman in stiletto heels.
Here, another take on the spider and the feminine, Anouck Wipprecht’s robotic Spider Dress. I love Wipprecht. Her Smokedress (which I posted yesterday, actually) is one of my favorite things.
